All-on-6 Dental Implants in Turkey: A Full Arch on Six Implants

All-on-6 replaces a full arch of missing teeth with a fixed bridge held by six dental implants, spreading load where more bone is available. Check your suitability.

All-on-6 is a full-arch dental implant treatment in which six implants are placed in one jaw to support a complete, fixed bridge of teeth. Compared with All-on-4, the extra two implants spread chewing forces over more anchor points, which can suit patients who have enough bone but want more support for their new fixed teeth.

What Is All-on-6?

All-on-6 is a way of replacing every tooth in one jaw with a fixed, non-removable set of teeth carried on six dental implants. The six implants are positioned across the jaw — typically towards the front and along the sides — so that a single full-arch bridge can be screwed onto them rather than resting on the gum.

The name refers to the number of implants, not to a single product: the implant brand, the bridge material and the exact positions are chosen for your jaw on a CBCT scan. Because six implants share the chewing load between them, All-on-6 is often considered when a patient has enough bone to support more anchor points than the four used in All-on-4, or when a dentist judges that extra support will help the bridge last longer under normal biting forces.

All-on-6 is one of several full-arch options offered at Er Dental Clinic. If you are still comparing every way of replacing all your teeth, our full mouth dental implants guide summarises All-on-4, All-on-6, zygomatic implants and implant-supported dentures side by side before you focus on one technique.

How All-on-6 Fits into Dental Implant Treatment

All-on-6 is a specific application of the same principle behind every dental implant: a titanium (or, in selected cases, zirconia) post is placed in the jawbone, bonds with it, and then carries a restoration. Our main dental implants page explains this process — osseointegration, the implant/abutment/crown structure and how single, multiple and full-arch treatments compare — in more general terms.

What makes All-on-6 different from a single implant or a small bridge is scale and planning: instead of replacing one or a few teeth, six implants are placed together to support one continuous prosthesis across the whole arch, so the surgical plan, the temporary teeth and the final bridge are designed as one project rather than several separate treatments.

Who Is All-on-6 Suitable For?

All-on-6 is generally considered for patients who are missing all, or nearly all, of the teeth in one jaw, or whose remaining teeth cannot realistically be saved. It tends to come up in a few situations:

Enough bone for six implants

All-on-6 needs more implant sites than All-on-4, so your CBCT scan needs to show adequate bone width and height at each planned position, particularly towards the back of the jaw.

A preference for more support rather than fewer implants

Where both All-on-4 and All-on-6 are technically possible, some patients choose All-on-6 for the wider spread of chewing forces; this trade-off is explained in detail on our All-on-4 vs All-on-6 comparison.

Missing teeth in one or both jaws

All-on-6 can be planned for the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or both; if both are treated, each jaw is planned, priced and healed as its own arch.

Failing dentures or a failing bridge

Patients whose current denture or bridge no longer works well sometimes move to All-on-6 for a fixed result.

Where a scan shows too little bone even for All-on-6, options include building the bone up first with guided bone regeneration or a sinus lift, or considering zygomatic implants, which anchor further back in the cheekbone and can sometimes avoid the need for grafting in the upper jaw. Which route fits you is confirmed after your dentist reviews your scan, not from a photo alone.

How All-on-6 Treatment Works

All-on-6 is planned and carried out by dentists with postgraduate implantology training, including Ahmet Mustafa Zeren, whose training covers oral surgery and implantology at MSc level. You can read more about our implant dentists on our clinic's dentist page before you book.

Treatment usually starts online: you send photos and, if you have them, X-rays or a CT scan, and our dentists reply with a written plan and quote. At the clinic, a CBCT scan and a panoramic X-ray confirm the exact position, length and angle for each of the six implants, and a 3Shape intraoral scan records your bite so the final bridge is designed to fit it.

The six implants are placed under local anaesthesia in a single surgical visit. Depending on implant stability and bone quality, a fixed temporary bridge can sometimes be attached shortly afterwards, so you are not without teeth while healing takes place; this is assessed case by case and cannot be promised for every patient. Over a period of months the bone bonds to the implants (osseointegration). On a second visit, once healing is confirmed, the abutments are connected and the final bridge is fitted and adjusted to your bite. For most international patients this means two trips to Istanbul, with the exact number of days for each visit set out in your written plan.

Advantages and Limitations of All-on-6

Compared with a removable denture, All-on-6 gives a fixed set of teeth that does not need to be taken out, and chewing forces are carried into the jawbone rather than resting on the gum. Compared with All-on-4, the extra two implants spread the same forces across more anchor points, which can matter for patients with a strong bite or where the dentist wants an additional margin of support.

The main limitation is that All-on-6 needs bone at six sites rather than four, so it is not always possible where bone volume is more limited — All-on-4 or, after bone grafting, All-on-6 may still be options in that case. In a small number of cases a dentist may plan more implants than six per jaw (sometimes referred to as All-on-8) where the scan shows this gives extra security; this is a clinical decision made from your CBCT images rather than a separate standard package, and no specific price applies to it.

The full-arch package price for All-on-6 at Er Dental Clinic starts from £4,700 / €5,500 / $6,400 per jaw, covering the implants, 12 fixed temporary teeth, 12 final teeth and surgical planning with a CBCT scan; a Straumann All-on-6 package is £8,600 / €10,000 / $11,600 per jaw. If both jaws are treated, the package price applies to each jaw separately. The bridge itself is usually made from zirconia ceramic; for patients who prefer to avoid a titanium implant fixture as well, zirconium (ceramic) implants are a metal-free alternative worth discussing with your dentist.

Healing and Aftercare After All-on-6

Some swelling, bruising and tenderness in the days after surgery are common with any full-arch implant treatment and are usually managed with ordinary painkillers and cold compresses. Soft foods are recommended for the first weeks, and your temporary bridge — where one is fitted — is designed to be used gently while the implants bond with the bone.

In the longer term, an All-on-6 bridge needs the same daily care as natural teeth, plus attention to the spaces the implants create:

  • Clean under and around the bridge daily with the interdental brushes, floss threaders or water flosser your dentist recommends.
  • Keep regular check-ups so your dentist can check the implants, the bridge screws and your bite.
  • Avoid smoking, which is linked to slower healing and a higher risk of complications around implants.
  • Report any looseness, discomfort or a change in how your bite feels promptly rather than waiting for your next visit home.

Before you leave Istanbul you receive written aftercare instructions and your treatment documents, and we stay in touch for remote follow-up once you are back home.

Risks of All-on-6 Treatment

All-on-6 is a well-established technique, but it is still major surgery and carries risks that should be understood before you consent to treatment:

Infection

Infection at one or more implant sites, usually managed with cleaning and antibiotics.

Failure to integrate

Failure to integrate, where the bone does not bond fully with an implant; the implant can often be removed and, after healing, replaced.

Peri-implantitis

Peri-implantitis, an inflammation of the gum and bone around an implant similar to gum disease, which is why hygiene and check-ups matter so much with a full-arch bridge.

Nerve irritation

Nerve irritation in the lower jaw or sinus involvement in the upper jaw, both of which CBCT planning is used to avoid.

Mechanical issues

Mechanical issues, such as a loose screw or a chipped section of the bridge, which can usually be repaired without replacing the whole prosthesis.

Your dentist reviews the risks that apply specifically to your case, based on your scan and medical history, before any surgery goes ahead.

Alternatives to All-on-6

All-on-6 is one of several ways to replace all the teeth in a jaw, and it is not automatically the right choice for everyone. Depending on your bone, budget and preference for fixed or removable teeth, your dentist may discuss:

  • All-on-4, which uses four implants instead of six and is often possible with less bone at the back of the jaw, usually at a lower package price.
  • Zygomatic implants, for cases of severe upper-jaw bone loss where standard implants and grafting are not realistic; these anchor in the cheekbone rather than the jaw itself.
  • Immediate implants, where a tooth being removed and its replacement implant are planned as part of the same visit, when bone and gum conditions allow.
  • Implant-supported dentures, a removable option that clips onto implants and can suit patients who prefer to take their teeth out for cleaning.

If a scan shows too little bone for any implant-based option straight away, guided bone regeneration or a sinus lift can be used to build it up first.

All-on-6 vs All-on-4

The most common comparison for patients considering a full arch is All-on-6 against All-on-4: the number of implants, the bone each option needs, and the difference in price. As a general guide, an All-on-6 package typically costs $700–$2,300 more per jaw than the same implant brand's All-on-4 package, reflecting the two extra implants. Our All-on-4 vs All-on-6 page sets out the differences in full, including which patients each option tends to suit, so you can discuss the right choice with your dentist.

All-on-6 Dental Implants: Frequently Asked Questions

How much does All-on-6 cost in Turkey?

An All-on-6 full-arch package at Er Dental Clinic starts from £4,700 / €5,500 / $6,400 per jaw, covering the six implants, 12 fixed temporary teeth, 12 final teeth and CBCT surgical planning. A Straumann All-on-6 package is £8,600 / €10,000 / $11,600 per jaw. If both jaws need treatment, the package price applies to each jaw separately, and any bone grafting is quoted only if it is clinically needed.

Is All-on-6 better than All-on-4?

Neither is automatically better; they suit different situations. All-on-6 spreads chewing forces across two extra implants, which some dentists prefer where bone allows it, while All-on-4 uses fewer implants and can be possible with less bone, usually at a lower package price. Our All-on-4 vs All-on-6 comparison goes through the differences in detail.

Who is a good candidate for All-on-6?

All-on-6 tends to suit patients missing all, or nearly all, of the teeth in a jaw who have enough bone at six implant positions to support a fixed bridge. Gum health, general health and smoking status are also assessed. A CBCT scan confirms whether All-on-6, All-on-4 or another option fits your jaw.

How many trips to Istanbul does All-on-6 need?

Most patients need two visits: one for the implant surgery and CBCT-guided planning, and a second, after the bone has healed, to fit the final bridge. A fixed temporary bridge may sometimes be attached shortly after surgery if implant stability allows. The expected number of days for each visit is set out in your written plan before you book.

Is All-on-6 treatment painful?

The implants are placed under local anaesthesia, so you should feel pressure rather than pain during surgery. Swelling and tenderness for several days afterwards are common with full-arch treatment and are usually managed with ordinary painkillers. Your dentist explains what to expect for your specific case.

How long do All-on-6 implants last?

With good hygiene and regular check-ups, All-on-6 implants can last for many years. Implant fixtures placed at our clinic carry a lifetime warranty, and the fixed bridge is covered for 5 years, provided you keep to the recommended hygiene and check-up schedule.
